Bumper Armchair
Bumper Armchair
Seat: | Dark Green Fabric |
Legs: | Chrome Metal |
“Even as they are sculpture, chairs must, first and foremost, support the human frame,” said legendary American designer Ward Bennett. Indeed, many of Bennett’s designs were informed by his own back problems, including his famed Bumper Armchair (1964). Inspired by a tub-shaped swivel chair used by George Washington at Mount Vernon, Bennett crafted Bumper’s short seat and comfortable pitch to relieve pressure on the lower back. The gentle sweep of its frame comes with a choice of arm height. Standard arms ensure elbow support and reduced neck or shoulder strain; low arms make chairs easy to push under desks or tables. Built for comfort and an object of beauty, Bumper’s generous seat and arms are masterfully upholstered leather or fabric with minimal seaming. Made in U.S.A.
