More Information

In the 1950s, Los Angeles-based artists Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman were instrumental in defining the look of California ceramics and design. Based on an original 1952 design by Los Angeles artist Jerome Ackerman, this grey terracotta vase, which reproduces the figures in one of his MFA projects, is thrown by hand on a potter's wheel and dried in the sun before being added to a wood-fired kiln. Abstract figures are then meticulously carved to capture the Ackermans' signature spirit and style. Display it as an art piece, or fill it with dried florals for lasting beauty. CB2 exclusive.Detroit native Jerome Ackerman founded ERA Industries in 1956 with his wife, Evelyn. For 50 years, the Los Angeles-based couple played a central role in shaping the California midcentury modern movement. Ackerman's first woven tapestry design was featured on the cover of the Los Angeles Times Home Magazine in 1957. Presented in collaboration with Ackerman Modern, the pieces in this collection recreate the couple's iconic midcentury designs using original drawings and archival photographs.
